TITLE: BEITAR AND THE BAR KOCHBA WAR IN THE BOUNDARIES OF HEDERA FROM CAESARIA TILL THE HILLS OF EFRAYIM By Dov Zidkovits, Published by the author,1988
This book truly breaks with the tradition of where Beitar is really located. Most modern day scholars claim Beitar, the city where Bar Kochba ruled and used as a base in his rebellious war against Rome is situated near jerusalem where the modern city of Beitar is located. Though there was a minority opinion that this was NOT the place, the author, an amateur archaeologist and researcher, seems to prove otherwise.
Personally I find his evidence overwhelming and more easily jives with the traditional Jewish sources, but the amount of sources in which the author brings from other sources as well can convince anyone that he is correct in his assumptions that the ancient Jewish city of Beitar is located where modern day hadera is located, not too far from Ceasaria.
The author includes 4 colored maps of his own reconstruction of the beitar area how it looked then and transposing it on modern day hadera and the surrounding area.
Included are source references to Talmudic, Church fathers, pilgrims to the Holyland, reproductions of ancent maps as well as archaeological and historical references which all point to the author's assumptions, and refutes the traditional place where Beitar is located. This book is a true revelation and can change the entire picture of where the Bar Kochba rebellion took place and clears the way for an entirely new perspective on the subject.
Since the book was published by the author in limited copies, and currently out of print, it's quite rare to get a copy. Get it before it disappears and enrich your historical curiosity before this book disappears!
