Luis Tiant is a former right-handed starting pitcher who pitched in MLB from 1964 to 1982. Luis pitched primarily for the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians, though he also played for the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and California Angels. Noted for his unusual windup (often facing away from the batter), Luis is probably best remembered for his exploits for the Red Sox against "the Big Red Machine" of the Cincinnati Reds in the 1975 World Series. During his career, Luis won 229-172 with a strong 3.30 ERA and 2416 strikeouts. Though his career records are very close to HOF pitchers, such as Jim "Catfish" Hunter, Luis has yet to be inducted. Hopefully, this oversight will be rectified soon. Luis is 80 years old today and this wonderful hat would be a special gift for any Red Sox or MLB fan. Get it while you can.
