This is a phenomenal Pre War MB3 conversion.  These are rare and exceptional.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description
The Gibson MB3 was originally a Mandolin Banjo and these have Maple instead of a TB3 which is mahogany.  These banjos are Geoff’s favorite Pre War because they truly have an exceptional and unique sound with the Maple.  These also are very rare and very hard to come by.  These are so rare that a lot of very serious players are oblivious to just how special this banjo is.
This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a maple neck and resonator.  The neck is a Huber and I know the tone ring is a Huber HR30.  This has all original metal including an original armrest and tailpiece.  The flange is the original one piece flange and it is in really good shape.
The neck is maple and the fretboard is rosewood with a seagull inlay pattern.  There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator.  This banjo was assembled by Steve Huber.  This comes with a nice hardshell case.
Condition
This is definitely in fantastic shape.  The hardware looks great which is especially nice because it is Pre War.  There is some light pitting, particularly in the flange but for 100 year old metal it looks great!  The flange has almost no pull which is another plus.  There is some metal worn off of the armrest but that is not that major for a Pre War Banjo.  All of the finish looks great and the frets and fretboard are in great shape also.  There are spikes at the 7th, 9th and 10th frets.  This is definitely in stellar condition with a clean case.
Set Up
This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  The head is a new Huber frosted head which is set to 90.  The bridge is a new Huber Bridge which is set with correct intonation.  The strings are also Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set really well.  This is a great player and I am not kidding about the tone.  This banjo really screams with a beautiful tone.
